Isohelix Swabs and Kits - Application NotesSmarter collection using Isohelix DNA Buccal Swabs Isohelix has created a novel Sample Swab DNA collection platform that offers different benefits for a range of molecular and bioassay applications. The swab kits are CE Marked thus can be used for the collection of human samples. Higher yields using Isohelix DNA Isolation Kits The Isohelix DNA isolation kits have been optimized for use with the Isohelix DNA buccal swabs in terms of yield and reduced handling. The isolated DNA is of high quality and suitable for all types of PCR including multiplex and rtPCR. Clinical Genotyping The Isohelix swabs give higher yield (4ug/DNA on average) over conventional swabs enabling fewer swabs to be used for SNP genotyping and reducing the number of applications where blood sampling is required. The swab has also been used for tissue typing applications. Veterinary Genotyping By replacing blood testing with Isohelix buccal swab testing for veterinary applications. The samples can be taken by the Farmer/fisherman or pet owner reducing the costs of sample collection. Because the swabs are abrasive, sample collection from fish, sheep/dogs, cats and birds has all been successfully completed, either from the ear or nose.
